Visiting “CTCI” Taiwanese engineering business in Thailand

Engineering services are considered as one of the key factors for developing the country with knowledge and innovation to strengthen the quality, fastness and environmentally friendly production.

CTCI (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the Taiwanese provider of engineering, complete construction for various industries, both petroleum and power plants is opened a company in Thailand since 1987. It is one of 40 branches across 15 countries worldwide. Currently, Mr. Jeff Hsu is the Managing Director of CTCI Thailand.

Recently, the Company opened Bang Na Headquarter to welcome Matichon – Khaosod groups for visiting and discussing the Company’s business plan. In this regard, Mr. Paul Chek, Deputy Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office has jointly visited.

Mr. Jeff Hsu said CTCI has a total staff of 294 people, engineers and construction team of over 200 people with extensive skill and experience in the covered fields: manufacturing engineering, civil and building engineering, mechanical engineering, control system and instrumentation engineering, piping engineering, and electrical engineering.

CTCI’s services will take care of the design in manufacturing process, assembly and installation followed in the legal requirements of Thailand and international standards. It is also under the terms of construction budget, duration and quality as planned, including safety and environmental standards. We have been certified by Quality Management System (ISO 9001), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Environmental Management System (OHSAS: 18001).

Another important factor of construction is the matter of materials. The Company will conduct a market survey in Thailand to obtain the quality and cheap materials, as well as develop a system to record the purchase history and service information of distributors and subcontractors to be helpful in making decisions for the next purchase. This will be the most beneficial to the project.

CTCI’s distinctive feature is its cloud-based engineering system, which makes it easier to coordinate and monitor with parent company in Taiwan. We also use three-dimensional computer programs instead of using a paper plan, which makes the overall project clearer. If something goes wrong or does not meet the requirements of the employer, it will be easy to amend and reduce the risk in a construction error.

CTCI Thailand also has an Eastern Province Operation Center (EPOC) where is located in Nikhom Phatthana District, Rayong Province. This is a metal cutting, assembling, welding plant, including steel pipe, steel structure, bucket and equipment, kiln. For pipe assembly and cutting, it is used computer systems that calculate the position and length to cut and weld automatically to be ready to install in the construction site. It saves time and reduces work at the construction site very much. They also have sand and steel grit blasting facility to clean the work surface before painting.

Examples of CTCI Thailand’s construction projects in Thailand are Bangchak Petroleum Refinery, Combined-Cycle Co-Generation Power Plant (TOP SPP) of Thai Oil Public Company Limited, and Petrochemical Refinery of PTT Asahi Chemical Company Limited. All of them received a safety certificate on zero accident from work for 5 million hours, 10 million hours and 20 million hours, respectively.

Not only that, CTCI Thailand is also placed importance on the mission of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and education by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with IRPC Technological College to enable students to apprentice in fields related to the Company.

Mr. Paul Chek or Shi Bosi, Deputy Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, said that the investment of Taiwanese entrepreneurs in ASEAN region is a part of “New Southbound Policy” to exchange human resources between Thailand and Taiwan. It covers trade, industry, education and tourism.

During January – August this year, ASEAN citizens traveled to Taiwan at 945,057 people more than last year which was 856,905 people. The number of tourists from Thailand this year was 105,817 people more than last year which was 75,466 people. This resulted in a visa exclusion policy for Thai tourists at 30 days in the last August.

The Taiwanese government will support Taiwanese entrepreneurs who open their companies abroad to understand the historical background, business, language and cultural information of ASEAN region to create a cooperative economy. This is a major strategy of Taiwan as a key member of the Asia Pacific region.
